These models share homolog genes as expressed in human disease conditions, helping to elucidate mechanisms and pathways of these diseases in different organs of the animals, which might be difficult to assess in clinical-based research. This book provides scientific reports on therapeutic potentials of medicinal plants in different animal models and provides information on the beneficial roles of the medicinal plants on human diseases. The chapters look at number of different medicinal plants in conjunction with several different animal models, examining the medicinal properties and activities of the plants for a variety of health issues, such as for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease, organ dysfunctions, cancer, for labor and postpartum issues, and more. The therapeutic mechanism of some phytoconstituents is also discussed. This important compendium provides valuable information for researchers and scientists involved in drug delivery and development, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, and biochemistry"--  |c Provided by publisher.

A former soil conservation Inspector, Dr.Goyal was proclaimed as the "Father of Irrigation Engineering in Puerto Rico for the twentieth century" by the ASABE, Puerto Rico Section, for his pioneering work on micro irrigation, evapotranspiration, agroclimatology, and soil and water engineering. He has authored more than 200 journal articles and edited over 100 books. Junaid Ahmad Malik, PhD, is a Lecturer with the Department of Zoology at Government Degree College, Bijbehara, Kashmir (J&K), India. He has more than eight years of research experience in ecology, soil macrofauna, wildlife biology, conservation biology, etc. Dr. Malik has published more than 20 research articles and technical papers in international peer-reviewed journals and has authored and edited books, book chapters, and popular editorial articles. He has participated in international conferences, seminars, workshops, and symposia. Ademola Olabode Ayeleso, PhD, is a Professor of Biochemistry at Bowen University, Iwo, Nigeria; and Honorary Professor in the Department of Life and Consumer Sciences, University of South Africa, South Africa. He is a member of Adeleke University 2020-2025 strategic plan drafting committee to appraise all research and academic activities. At Adeleke University (Nigeria), he established a research group named DrosophilaAU Research Group, in which fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) are being used as a model to study diabetes and obesity. Dr. Ayeleso is actively involved in life research and has taught several courses in biochemistry. He is a prolific writer with about 40 publications to his credit.
