A sample evidence-based treatment plan for eating disorders and obesity is provided. Jongsma and Bruce: Discuss the process and criteria for diagnosing eating disorders and obesity. Describe the essential elements of psychotherapy treatment planning. Provide a brief history of efforts to identify empirically supported treatments (ESTs) for eating disorders and obesity. Describe identified ESTs for eating disorders and obesity. Demonstrate how to empirically inform a psychotherapy treatment plan with objectives and interventions consistent with those of identified ESTs for eating disorders and obesity. Show and discuss role-played scenarios that demonstrate selected aspects of the ESTs.
